石垣島の気候は亜熱帯地域ですので極めて温暖で冬でも15度程度です。
また秋口には台風の通り道になり旅行する際の天候には気を使わなければならない地域でもあります。
石垣島での遊びというとマリンアクティビティを思い浮かべる方が多いかと思います。確かに石垣島は美しい海に恵まれ、ビーチも白砂。南国の楽園気分を味わうことができます。
ですが、それだけではありません。
マングローブ林や鍾乳洞、トレッキングなど様々な遊びにあふれています。史跡も多くあり学びの場所も多いです。
屋外の遊びが多いですがミンサーなどの屋内で石垣島の文化にも触れることが出来ます。
石垣島の遊びはこのように幅広い種類があり、やったことのない初めてにたくさん触れることができるのが特徴です。
服装についてはそれぞれのアクティビティ次第なところもあるのですが、主に水辺での遊びだと濡れてもいい服や水着、屋内だとTシャツに短パンなどの格好でいいかと思います。
ただし注意しないといけないのが紫外線です。本土の感覚で紫外線対策を行わず遊んでいると日焼けで遊びが楽しめないなんてことになるときがありますので注意してください。

(1) Sabichi Cave
サビチ鍾乳洞は３億７千年頃前の地殻変動によって生まれたという鍾乳洞です。
日本では珍しく、「海に抜ける鍾乳洞」として知られており鍾乳洞内から海を見ることが出来ます。
(2) Tomizaki Kannondo
石垣島の南西部、フサキビーチからすぐ近くにある寺院です。観音崎という岬の山手側にあります。
昔から島民たちの航海安全と無病息災を見守ってくださる観音様として信仰されてきました。

Mt. (3) Kala
新石垣空港のすぐ近くにある小高い山。山頂からは頻繁に離発着する飛行機が一望できます。
木々はほとんど無く、草の生い茂った山で、山頂までの道は片道約15分程度とアクセスしやすいのもいいですね。
写真スポットとしても有名で、海と飛行機の写真は非常にきれいでSNS映えしますね。
Yaeyama Peace Memorial Hall
Yaeyama Peace Memorial Museum is a museum that introduces the actual situation of malaria in Yaeyama area during the Pacific War through photos and documents.
Established in 1999 as a branch of the Peace Memorial Museum on the main island of Okinawa, it preserves history so that the ruthlessness of war and the horrors of malaria will not be forgotten.
It is frequented by locals, history buffs, and children visiting on social studies tours.

(5) Kawadaira Kannondo
エメラルドグリーンの海が美しい川平湾の隣接する川平公園の中に建っている観音堂です。
パワースポットとしても有名です。17世紀ごろに建立され、現在まで島民の信仰を集めているお寺です。
川平湾に遊びに来た際は訪れてみるのもいいかもしれませんね。

(vi) Island of Phantom
幻の島と呼ばれる浜島は、石垣島が誇る有数の海スポットの一つで、石垣島の西側の海にぽつりと浮かぶ砂浜でできた島です。

島の小さな漁港で島ならではののんびりした雰囲気が魅力的です。釣りをしたい方にもおすすめです。
(8) Telegraph shop ruins
1897年に陸軍によって軍事目的で作られた台湾と日本とを海底電線でつなぐもので、第二次世界大戦の戦後まで、約半世紀にわたり重要な軍事拠点でした。
現在は廃墟ですが趣のある石造りをしています。
(9) Hulst Field Ruins
フルスト原遺跡は、旧石垣空港の傍にある14世紀前半から16世紀にかけての遺跡です。
石灰岩塊の石の囲いで集落の防衛機能を担っていました。広い公園内を石塁がずらっと並ぶさまは感動します。

1) Idona Beach
イドナビーチは、石垣島にある穴場ビーチの中の１つです。伊土名ビーチの砂浜は、赤味がかっており、石垣島らしい他の白浜のビーチとは若干趣が違います。
ちかくに集落がある分、騒音がでないようにマリンジェットなどエンジン音が出るものは控えられており、のんびりしたい人にはうってつけのビーチです。
(2) Shani Shani Beach
Shani Shani Beach is a private beach in front of the Ishigakijima Beach Hotel Sunshine resort hotel. It is a beach that can be visited even by non-guests.

Nata Beach
石垣島北部の東にある玉取崎展望台の下あたりから伊原間集落へかけての自然のロングビーチで、白い砂浜と碧い海を眺めながらビーチコーミングや散歩に適した砂浜です。
潮流の関係で漂流物が流れ着きやすいので、ビーチコーミング好きな方にはおすすめの浜です。
Hirano Beach
Hirano Beach is a beautiful beach located in the eastern part of Hirakubozaki, the northernmost point of Ishigaki Island.
石垣島の最北端に位置するということもあり、人工物のない自然豊かな光景を望むことができます。そのため夜景は非常に美しいです。
また、空港や市街地から距離があるので人も少なくプライベート感が堪能することができます。
ただし、周りにはほとんど施設や設備がないため、飲み物やUV対策などしっかりと準備をした上で訪れてください。
(5) Tada Beach
真栄里エリアにある天然ビーチです。地元の人も良く訪れる穴場なビーチです。
ただビーチ自体は岩が場多く、泳げるような感じではありません。
近くに光源がないので星空観察にはうってつけの海岸です。
⑥Hira Detached Island Beach
川平湾の岬先端にあたる平離島ビーチは岩に囲まれた、波はとても穏やかビーチです。
平離島ビーチの近くにはマンタシティと呼ばれるマンタに遭遇できる確率の高いダイビングポイントもあります。

崎枝ビーチは知る人ぞ知る隠れた名所のビーチです。
ここのサンゴは非常に美しく、浅瀬のためサンゴ鑑賞にはもってこいの場所です。
潮流などの関係で今は泳げないのですが、引き潮の時のビーチは美しいので是非訪れてみてください。
(8) Nannu Hamacho Beach
サンセットスポットとしても人気のあるサザンゲートブリッジを渡った先の埋立地にある南ぬ浜町ビーチは、多目的広場や遊具施設、東屋、トイレなどが整備されている南ぬ浜町緑地公園の隣にあるビーチです。
公園に施設が揃っており、ビーチで遊ぶさいにも利用でき、非常に便利に遊ぶことができます。
Akashi Coast
明石海岸は石垣島最大のビーチであり、地平線から昇り行くサンライズはとても美しいです。

(10) Kawahira Tabaggar
Nishihama Beach on Hateruma Island is often cited as the most beautiful beach in the Yaeyama Islands.

Remote islands around Ishigaki Island
(1) Taketomi Island
Taketomi Island is a small island created by the uplift of coral reefs, located about 10 minutes offshore by boat from Ishigaki Island. You can enjoy swimming and diving.
In particular, Kondoi Beach, Kaiji Beach famous for its star sand, Takidunguchi in the northwestern part of the island, Simovishi in the southwestern part of the island, and Taketomi Island South Offshore Reef in the southern part are popular spots.
(2) Kohama Island
Kohama Island is a small island with an area of less than 8 km2, a circumference of 16.5 km, and a population of 568, famous for being the filming location for the morning drama Churasan.
伝統行事も多く行われており、旧暦8月に行われる結願祭は小浜島の一大イベントです。数多くの芸能が神へ奉納され、 結願祭を含む小浜島の芸能は国の重要無形文化財にも指定されています。
石垣島からは30分程度の船旅で着く比較的近い島になります。
Yubu Island

Iriomote Island

1980年代初めに、島唯一の小学校の児童が1人だけになり、廃校の危機にさらされた際に、親類や全国各地からの里子引き取りなどで小学校を守ったというエピソードがあります。

Hateruma's unique blue ocean color is also called "Hateruma Blue," and Nishi Beach is famous as one of the most beautiful beaches in Yaeyama.

嘉弥真島は小浜島の北部にある島で現在は無人島です。
石垣港や小浜島からシュノーケリングやスキューバダイビングなどの観光ツアーで訪れることができます。
ツアー以外では訪れるのは少し困難かもしれませんね。
