About Inoda Fishing Port

Inoda Fishing Port is a great spot for fishing, featuring a stone carved with a dugong at its entrance and offering views of the Tamatori-zaki Observation Deck across the crystal-clear, emerald-green sea. Because it is surrounded by breakwaters, high waves are rare.
There are windbreak forests surrounding the fishing port, so you can enjoy a leisurely fishing experience while feeling the gentle breeze. You can also take a glass-bottom boat tour to admire the coral reefs from beneath the boat.
Since the adan tree—a subtropical plant—grows wild here, you can enjoy a more tropical atmosphere.

・Glass-bottomed boat

A glass-bottom boat has a glass-like bottom, allowing passengers to observe coral and tropical fish swimming underwater without having to get into the water. Since it’s a boat, it’s ideal for families with small children,You can also participate.
The glass-bottom boat at Inoda Fishing Port has a capacity of 10 passengers, so it’s perfect for groups, and since it can also accommodate just two people, it’s highly recommended for couples. With spacious seating and a transparent windbreak canopy, you can enjoy the stunning surrounding scenery in a spacious and open cabin. As you head out to sea, you’ll also be able to see Tamatori Cape and Mt. Nosoko, home to the Mape legend.
Since the entire area is covered by a tent, you won’t get wet in the rain, so this activity is highly recommended for those who want to enjoy it even when it’s raining. It’s also one of the activities we can recommend for young children, seniors, and those who aren’t strong swimmers.
・Watching the sunrise
Inoda Fishing Port is one of Ishigaki Island’s premier spots for watching the sunrise. As it is the only fishing port located on the east coast, it offers a perfect vantage point to enjoy the sun slowly rising over the horizon. In particular, the breakwater extending out into the sea provides an unobstructed view, allowing you to take in the surrounding ocean.
It’s the perfect spot to spend a leisurely morning basking in the sunrise while glancing over at the old man fishing early in the morning.
・Fishing
As mentioned earlier, Inoda Fishing Port is a hidden gem among fishing spots.
It is a fishing port frequented by many locals, and you can often see people lined up along the shore fishing.
Although the water is generally shallow here, the channel is deep, making this area ideal for surf fishing. If you’re not very good at surf fishing, visiting during a spring tide will allow you to enjoy fishing without any trouble.
This is a spot where mizun—a fish belonging to the herring family (Clupeidae)—are particularly easy to catch. Since it’s called “mijun” in the Okinawan dialect, it’s a good idea to ask other anglers who are already fishing there, “Where’s the best spot to catch mijun?”
Mijun look similar to sardines, and you can often spot them swimming in large schools. You’re especially likely to see them swimming in schools at sunrise and sunset, so it might be a good idea to time your visit for those times. Also, since larger fish sometimes migrate in pursuit of the mijun, why not try your luck at catching a big one!
