How to Get to Nabure Beach on Ishigaki Island and What to Do There!
Hello everyone!
Ishigaki Island is home to well-maintained man-made beaches like Maesato Beach, as well as private beaches like Fusaki Beach, which is part of a resort hotel known for its beautiful sunsets. There are also pristine, unspoiled beaches rich in natural beauty. One of these is Nabure Beach. Compared to other beaches, Nabure Beach is truly rich in natural beauty, and the path leading to it follows a wildlife trail through an area untouched by human hands.
In this article, we’ll introduce Nabre Beach, which retains its natural beauty.

What Is Nabure Beach?

Nabure Beach is a completely undeveloped, natural beach located near Yarabuzaki. Because it’s truly unpaved, the entrance is hard to find, and the path there consists of animal trails—making it a challenging spot right from the start. However, once you make it past these animal trails, a beautiful beach teeming with coral comes into view. Since the beach is rocky in many places, it’s best to wear water shoes when walking along the shore. Because it’s such a place rich in nature, it attracts elderly men who come to catch fish and young people who enjoy surfing. On the other hand, there are absolutely no facilities—such as parking lots, snack stands, or restrooms—so be sure to take care of any necessary business before heading out.
How to Get to Nabure Beach

To reach Nabure Beach, head north on Prefectural Route 79 and cross the Nagura Bridge. At the first fork in the road, turn left, and at the next fork, turn left again. After driving a short distance from there, you’ll find a road leading to the beach. However, there are absolutely no signs or other directions. Since there is no parking lot, you’ll notice a lot of people visiting Nabure Beach parking on the side of the road in this area. Ironically, this serves as a landmark indicating the entrance to Nabure Beach. At the entrance, there is a tree marked with red paint. From there, follow the animal trail to reach Nabure Beach.

Detailed Information on Nabure Beach

Since Nabure Beach is located near Yarabuzaki Cape, it is difficult to reach from the city center, the airport, or the port. That said, it is characterized by rough waves and lush natural surroundings that you won’t find at other beaches, making it a destination that truly stands out from the rest.

With no parking lot, unpaved access roads, and a beach featuring a unique, rocky terrain, this spot isn’t suitable for swimming. Additionally, due to the rough waves, there are hardly any water activities, and no tours are offered here. It’s no exaggeration to call this a truly pristine, natural beach. The waves crash violently against the rocks, making it a favorite spot for surfers. While Osaki Beach has similar areas with strong waves, this spot is in a league of its own—the spray from the waves crashing against the cliffs at Nabure Beach is a breathtaking sight. That said, since there are no lifeguards or beach attendants and the beach is unpaved, caution is advised.
How to Enjoy Nabure Beach

Since Nabure Beach is located near Cape Yarabu in the northeastern part of the island, it is prone to northerly winds, resulting in very rough waves. Because the waves crashing against the rocky shore are so strong,SUPand ... andcanoe...as well as laid-back marine activities andsnorkelingIt is not suitable for marine sports such as underwater exploration. On the other hand, you often see young people enjoying surfing on these waves. However, since the seabed is rugged with rocks and coral, beginners should probably avoid it.

Since there are no lifeguards or beach attendants at this beach, we do not recommend any water activities here. If you choose to participate, you do so at your own risk. Because the waves are rough, fish tend to gather here, and you’ll often see older men fishing. Be careful, though, as the rocky terrain can cause your fishing hook to get snagged. While it’s not particularly suited for water activities, this beach has a lot of driftwood, so we recommend beachcombing to look for items washed ashore and collect seashells. As mentioned earlier, Nabure Beach has many rocky areas that can be slippery, so we strongly recommend wearing shoes with non-slip soles. It’s best to wear water shoes that can get wet.
