What is New Ishigaki Airport?
New Ishigaki Airport is the gateway to the island and is the point of entry for most visitors to Ishigaki Island.

Access to the city limits from the airport can be reached by the following means

(1) Rent-a-car

When it comes to getting around the island, many of you may assume that you will be renting a car. There are many rental car agencies scattered around the airport, so you should first visit one. Many companies have offices within a 5-minute walking distance, so walking is fine, but since you will probably have a lot of luggage, it is better to find a rental car company that offers a free shuttle bus service and make a reservation in advance.
From the sales office, use your car navigation system or the map on your cell phone to get to the city center. It takes about 30 minutes outside of the holiday season.

(2) Bus

If you are considering traveling by bus, there are two types of regular bus service. One is via Heitoku, Ohama, and Shiraho, and the other is via Nikko Yaeyama and ANA Intercontinental. Each runs every 30 minutes, so you can get from the airport to the city bus terminal approximately every 15 minutes.

If your hotel is Intercontinental or Nikko, it is better to use the route via Nikko Yaeyama or ANA Intercontinental, but it will take 10 minutes longer to reach the city center than via Hirate, Ohama, or Shiraho. It takes about 45 minutes from Shin-Ishigaki Airport to Ishigaki Port.The bus timetable and fares are below.

3) Taxi

The fastest and most convenient way to get there would be by cab. The cab stand is located right outside the airport, so it is easy to move your luggage and you can reach the city center in about 30 minutes. Drivers who are familiar with Ishigaki Island will take you there so you can enjoy conversation and get information.It takes about 30 minutes from Shin-Ishigaki Airport to Ishigaki Port. The fare is approximately 3,000 yen.
Parking around Ishigakijima Airport

Shin-Ishigaki Airport has a 24-hour general parking lot with 369 spaces, which can be used at a very reasonable rate of 100/h for 9 hours or less and 1000 yen for 24 hours or less. However, please note that you cannot enter and exit the parking lot while the airport gate is closed from 22:30 to 5:30 the next day.

Shiraho Coast

Shiraho Beach is a major beach located in the western part of Ishigaki Island, only 5 minutes drive from Shin-Ishigaki Airport. In addition to the easy access from the airport, it is only about 20 minutes by car from the city center, so it is a place that many tourists visit every year.
Perhaps the greatest attraction of the Shiraho Coast is its coral reefs. More than 70 species of coral grow wild in the emerald green waters that line the white sand beach. Among them, there is a large colony of a rare species of coral called "blue coral. This colony is said to be the largest in the northern hemisphere.
For this reason, divers from home and abroad visit the area.

Inoda Campground is located along the northern coast of Ishigaki Island. Mt. Nosoko

Nosodake is a mountain located about 25 minutes by car from Shin-Ishigaki Airport, and the summit offers an unobstructed 360 degree panoramic view and is the most spectacular view point in Ishigaki Island. Nosoko-dake can be accessed by a 1-hour trail or by car to the 8th station, and it takes about 10 minutes to reach the summit from there.
In addition to the beautiful views, the summit is also a power spot for romance, where it is said that climbing together with the person you love will bring your love to fruition.

It is a restaurant affiliated with Anparu Shokudo, which has a branch in a theme park called Yaimamura in Ishigaki Island, and serves traditional Yaeyama soba.
